UNO’s 50th Anniversary.

In 2021 UNO celebrated a milestone 50th Anniversary. To celebrate its golden year, we kickstarted many fun and exciting campaigns, as well as unique product offers throughout the year. To commemorate the birthday, we created a special logo featuring the iconic Wild Oval within the UNO brand, as well as a Premium version of UNO, complete with deluxe packaging, an exclusive gold coin, and a special 50/50 rule card for added gameplay. In conjunction with this premium offer, we also offered a lower-priced item, similar to the standard UNO packaging, rebranded to fit with the UNO 50th identity.

As WILD is iconic to the UNO Brand and Gameplay, the 50th brand was centered around incorporating WILD wherever we could. The 50th logo for the Anniversary included a simple 50 lock up, with the 0 being replaced with the oval shape found within an UNO card. The oval was then filled with the iconic 4 color quadrant, unique to the UNO Wild card. The WLD feature was extended throughout the packaging for the Premium offer by including a graphic on the interior top of the package that had WILD written out in every language that UNO is offered in. This was incorporated to celebrate the global recognization and familiarity that UNO has around the world. The words were extended in a blind varnish treatment to keep the package clean and elegant, but still fill the space and add a unique touch.

As a Lead Designer on this project, I assisted in the development of the 50th Brand Identity and elements, as well as lead the packaging and product concepts and designs.
